There is no doubt that many in our community have experienced tough times over the past 18 months, particularly with regard to major natural disasters such as the bushfires, floods and a global pandemic! The struggle for small organisations like Make a Difference PMQ trying to support communities such as ours is very real, even in normal times. Over the last year in particular, we have had to work through how to do more, with fewer people. Like many small community organisations, MAD PMQ relies heavily on events to raise the funds required to deliver services and provide support to community members and organisations where needed.
The good news is that as a community we are moving to more positive times and as such during October and November M.A.D are focusing on recruitment of volunteers!
You can make a difference in our community by volunteering as a Van Volunteer, Event Volunteer or General Committee Member.
A Van Volunteer with Make a Difference PMQ might be required to assist with any of the following: driving the van to and from shifts, making/serving coffee at a community event, cooking and serving food (BBQ and donated food) for people who access our service, having meaningful, non-judgmental conversations with all we serve.
An Event Volunteer at Ride the Wave (the M.A.D annual fundraiser) might be required to assist with any of the following: car parking steward, set up and pack down, gate/ticket collection at RTW Sound Wave concert, admin assistant at surf and/or skate competitions, flyer distribution, data collection, crowd control, serving coffee (from MAD van). An Event Planning Volunteer at Ride the Wave might be required to assist with any of the following: take charge of a certain aspect of the planning process eg: social media or volunteer coordinator, be available to meet as a sub committee as required, be able to work to a deadline.
Who can be a volunteer?
